When you become a foster parent, you think you understand the responsibility that comes with it. It's not until you dive in, head first that you get it. The responsibility of a foster parent is to help a broken child heal. No matter how small the issue that brought them into care, the mere separation from a parent, crushes a child's spirits. My husband and I wanted to give fostering our all. And we prayed that we would always be a warm loving home to anyone who entered.
Becoming a foster parent is much less intimidating than it seems. You just have to be willing to do the work. I've heard stories of parents taking 2 years to complete the paperwork. It took my husband and I 10 months because we never let anything sit. If we were told to jump, we asked how high. There is a lot of paperwork. But like anything, if you want it bad enough, you'll get it done.
I've been watching Long Lost Family on TLC since season 1. I absolutely love this show. I've cried watching every single episode. It's a show about people who have experienced adoption and are now seeking their biological (bio) families.
